There's a lot of good comics, personally I like a lot of the titles under Vertigo.
Despite this there's no contest imo, mangas are a lot more diverse in comparison.

I dont think you can make a generalized assumption like that. People just have different ideas for stories than others. Plus, the artwork is also a key factor in something as diverse as comics. I love the story of Naruto for example, but I am equally drawn to it because of the artistic style to the entire series. I doubt I would have been as into Naruto if for example the series was drawn in the style of Marvel comics.

by generally assumptions we can make believe westeners more believe something universally out of mind approach compared to japanese style of storyline thinking, most of it still keep the traditional values and dictating human-nature bonds.

I agree with you. I find more creative ideas from the Japanese manga/anime than I do with American cartoons. That is for sure.

Ain't no anime got **** on Ed Edd and Eddy. Oh yeah, most cartoons are made for kids as opposed to anime which is made for all ages so you can't compare them. My favorite anime is Samurai Champloo and Cowboy Bebop. I dare you to tell me that the subs has **** on the dub in those two. Anyways, I disagree with you

Two of my favorites as well^ OP I agree completely. I always wondered if kids in Japan watched American cartoons like we watch their anime..

Japanese is more out there and does really weird things, so they are more creative I suppose. Depends on the artist though. I don't feel comfortable saying Japan is more creative. Every artist/writer is different. I don't like basing one whole place on some people. Both places are creatvie.

I enjoy western way more though, especially animation wise and comics too, although I really like my Soul Eater. The quality of that is so good, it makes the gap of me liking western comics more very small. I don't like to compare though. It's all comics and cartoons or manga/anime or whatever names you want to give them. It's all under one big roof.

Overall, I love the cartoons and comics I watch/read.

Yes it is because Japanese anime is considered an art while western animation is considered mainly a product ( for children ) , thus giving Japanese directors much more creative freedom concerning the story and design of the characters.

Anyone who agrees with this is an idiot. True story. I bet you most people here probably don't even read western comics. Manga and anime are creative but to say they are more creative just because you like their style just shows ignorance.

Anyone thinks im wrong? Japanese produce more creative and entertaining manga/anime compared to their counterpart in western. Not that im condemning anyone, only in my perspective of choice of reading.

I'm not sure if I would say that Manga is more "creative."

I think the art style is a little more pleasing, and there is a bit of a different culture in western media.

Western media has held, for a very long time, that cartoons are for kids and comedy (such as Looney Toons). This has made it much more difficult for the deeper and more engaging plot lines to be explored in western animation studios. About as close as it gets are some of the better super-hero animated adaptations (I'm personally a fan of Batman Beyond - but a lot of people seemed to hate it because it showed a batman undergoing character development instead of being an omniscient Chuck Norris) or some of the more aspiring comics like "The Dark Knight" (where Bat Man is absolutely ruthless.)

On the other hand - eastern cultures have always had quite lively depictions of hand-drawn art. "Comics" are not really seen as childish - but as a story telling medium for all manner of expression. Anime and Manga are sort of like the sitcoms that are popular in the west (though with more continuity between episodes) - the longer history of entertainment and the relatively recent introduction of network television (compared to the west) in the east (mostly Japan) has meant that their entertainment focused less on live action and more on animated sequences and 'comic strip' prints.

Which... if you think about it - it makes sense. Works like Evangelion would have been next to impossible on the budget of a weekly airing live-action sitcom. Since there was no stigma that it was 'for kids' - there was no reason for Japan to break its trend of using drawings/animation to convey story and provide entertainment. The setting/theme flexibility more than made it a fair exchange.
