Japanese Dub Vs English Dub: Which do you prefer and why?

Japanese. Hands down. As I was saying in another thread, the cheesiness of the English voice actors, and the over compensation (screams while falling and such) make you appreciate the passion that you get from the Japanese voice actors. They both put their hearts into it, I'm sure, but the originals usually convey the atmosphere of the show better. Also, it's usually whichever version you start watching first that you prefer. You just get used to hearing the original voice and any different one makes you cringe :/

Japanese, but only because of Hidan Vs Asuma(In english, Asuma pushes hidan, he falls over and the kakuzu helps him up), And the fact that Subbed has more episodes.

Japanese. For any anime. I started out watching watching Naruto dubbed, but switched to subbed. There seems to be a better correlation between how a character's emotions look and how the actor's voice sounds in the subbed versions. Maybe there are cultural subtleties that get lost with the subbed voice actors.

I remember watching Naruto when it first aired on Toonami back in 2005.....so for me part 1 is always better in English (Nostalgia probably)

I started watching Shippuden in English, but once I got to were the dub episodes stopped I got too impatient and moved to the Japanese.....

In all actuality even if the Jap version's voice actors were horrible, people would still prefer it because they don't know what "Good" japanese voice overs sound like.....because they are unfamiliar with the language.

I prefer the Japanese dub. Maybe this is because when i first started watching Naruto I watched the Japanese dub and it's what I'm used to.

However, whenever i try to watch the English dub I hate it. Especially Naruto's voice, it's terrible and he just sounds annoying, whereas in the japanese dub i found his voice to be very well done. I'm not saying all the voices are terrible, some of them are OK but i prefer the Japanese voices. The voices of characters like Orochimaru and Kakashi just make the dub great.

It seems in Japan they take voice acting more seriously and the voice actors are very well trained and talented. Not that there aren't good voice actors in the U.S, but i find that good dubs are more prevalent in Japanese than they are in English.

I would say the Japanese dub is better, the English voices just seem too cheesy for me. Also, it sometimes makes no sense. Why do they say everything in English, but they also say "Chidori" and not "Thousand birds"? Granted, Chidori sounds a lot cooler than Thousand Birds, but it's just silly to me.
Because of the hardcore Japanese weeaboos.

Take "Minato" for example:
His name is either pronounced - Me-Na-Toe or Min-Na-Toe To avoid this, they'll sometimes change the name around. One of the biggest problem Voice Actors have.

I like both, but I prefer Dubs. It feels more natural watching something in my own language.

This.

Most of the people who enjoy Japanese voices can't even analyze if they performed the scene correctly or not.

^Lol, i doubt neither you or sominiferous can either. I've watched a lot of Japanese dubs and i cant really find anything that is off about the Naruto dub, but if some random guy on a forum says its crap, it must be true.

Never said I could. I can't say Japanese Voice Actors are better than the English Voice Actors. I can say they sound better than the English Voices. I can't say who's the better actor without analyzing them. I can give you a full review on Maile Flanagan as the voice of Naruto. As far as, Junko Takeuchi, I can tell you she sounds good.

People saying Japanese original audio is better without any legitimate reason, is stupid to me.

At the end of the day, it's your opinion that counts.

Tenten's comparison pretty much sums which is better.

No 16 year old girl should like a 4 year old.
