Congrats Oda. Kishimoto ranked #26

The Japanese magazine Da Vinci announced the results their yearly “Book of the Year” ranking in its newest issue, on sale Dec. 4. In that yearly ranking, One Piece kept its second place ranking. However, One Piece manga author Eiichiro Oda won first place in the same magazine’s annual “Most Beloved Manga Artist” ranking.

Honestly not surprised. Considering the writing in the Naruto Gaiden ... :lol

Oda must have something special to be on top for so long.

Awful list from start to finish. Hype and sentimentality clearly take presidence and when that happens, you know the people who put them there don't have a discerning eye.

There was nothing wrong with the writing in Gaiden. It was simple few chapters to act as a warm-up for the movie, to give insight on the current situation, not a full blown story in itself.

Eh, I thought it was bad. Kishi throws in a villain and gave us what seemed like was gonna be well-developed backstory, throws in some questioning of ethics, etc, only for him to be one-paneled while pissing on Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura. Completely useless plot.

If they wanted to give insight, they should have made a conflict that was mainly for the new generation, like Chunin exams, or academy stuff.

Naruto in itself was popular. The Gaiden? Nope.

Hell even the Last was popular, because of Naruto itself, but that doesn't mean it sold well all around. Boruto the Movie beat it by a margin.

Saying the Gaiden was a warm up to a movie is an actual insult to the Movie.
