*Kicks Yubel out and dusts the cobwebs off this thread.*

Yosh, tell me everything you know about Kenjutsu, no matter how much or little it may be.

Gokudera:
Yosh! Jacob Moore sempai!

I think 'Kenjutsu' means The Way of the Sword and all I really know about it without looking it up is:
Combat with a weapon mostly swords/Katanas. You respect your sword as if it were an extension of your own arm, you don't treat it badly like leaving it damaged you make sure to have it always prepared for any situation, like you would want to be if you were walking into a battle.

That's it in a nutshell I suppose

Indeed, nice response ^_^

Well then we'll move on right away - Can you tell me what the difference is between a One-Handed Slash and a Two-Handed Slash besides the obvious?

I'll tell you the obvious anyway xd but I will build on it from there. A one handed slash is essentially attacking your enemy with a one handed slash. The advantage of a one handed slash are manoeuvreability it is easy to counter whilst holding your sword with one hand because you have a much more fluent movement and so are able to react faster. The disadvantage of using a one handed slash is speed you lack speed without force, so you must sacrifice an ability to gain another ability.

A two handed slash is essentially attacking your opponent with a two handed slash. The advantage of a two handed slash is the opposite of a o e handed slash you gain speed and force, when bringing down your sword using two hands more force is applied so it will in turn go faster. The force applied whilst using two hands is also hard to block because it may knock you off balance if your footing is off. Now the disadvantage of using a two handed slash is the opposite again with the one handed slash. You sacrifice reaction time and manoeuvreability.

It is somewhat the same as the scientific principle of equivalent exchange. You must sacrifice something to get something of equal value back. When using one hand you give away force and speed. And when using two hands you give away manoeuvreability and reaction. Time. These four things are of equal importance but two must be sacrificed to gain the other two, so the four cannot be used at the same time.

Hope you like it

@_@ I literally couldn't have said it better.

So now that you (clearly) understand the difference between the two, I'd like for you to perform a One-Handed Horizontal slash using this Bokuto on this training dummy. Make sure to state which hand you're using and where exactly you strike the dummy.

*Places a training dummy and hands you a bokuto*

Right I will not disappoint you

*I take the bokuto from Jacob and then try to get a feeling for it's weight, I find that it is quite light (being wood an all =_=) and after a few practice swings on thin air I finally stand at slashing distance from the dummy studying it's body and looking for potential weak spots, surveying him carefully. Now that I've done this I grip the bokuto with my right hand but making sure not to grip it too tight as it will restrict movement in my wrist. I then raise the bokuto up and bring it across my chest and over my left shoulder getting ready to strike. Now with one fluent motion I swing the sword aiming for the dummy's chest. I slash across the dummy's chest hearing some what of a thumping sound as the bokuto hits and the slides across the dummy's chest. *

*rests the bokuto on my shoulder Kenpachi style*

Sorry for the delay, but that was great.

Now, a One-Handed Vertical, please.

It's alright and thanks

*I lift the bokuto from my shoulder and again do a few vertical one-handed slashes on thin air near the dummy. I then stand at slashing distance again from the dummy pointing the tip of the bokuto at the dummy's chest where his heart would be. I then raise my arm and straighten it at a 180 degrees angle pointing the tip straight at a solitary cloud floating above us. Now as fast as I can but not losing control I bring the bokuto down, watching where I hit the dummy. I slash right down the middle of the dummy from the top of his head and I finish at his waist. Continuing with the bokuto it is now pointing behind me at about a 45 degree angle with my arm straightened out.*

Was that okay?

That's good, though I don't know why the sword would be behind you in the end.

Moving on, do you know what a Stab is? If so, describe one to me.

Yeah I think I sort of described it wrong

Well a stab is when you use the sharp pointed tip of the sword and not the blade of the sword to do damage. When you go to stab someone it is known as a lunge, if you make contact the sword should go through your opponent and deal a fair amount of piercing damage if you hit a vital part of your opponents body. Like for example the heart or the kidney.
