Izuna as Tobi would have been interesting, but would lose purpose

If Kishi did reveal Tobi to be Izuna, it had potential to be interesting at first, but then I reckon after a while people would have been questioning why he was there. With Obito he has relations to Kakashi, Minato, Gai, Naruto and Sasuke so there are many possibilities for those encounters but the only people Izuna would have connections with would be Naruto, Tobirama and Hashirama. Also the characters on the main battlefield don't even know that Izuna Uchiha even existed so they would wonder what the whole point was in destroying the mask.

Yes obito was the better choice. But kishi ****ed up royally with the hints he gave for it. Who didn't think Obito was Tobi since the first time his S/T was shown to be exactly the same as kakashi's.

The fact that they killed his little brother(s). Doesn't need to have been because of the village system, could be anything else. Still more understandable than "Girl I liked died so now I'll kill millions of people". He contradicted himself, which makes for a terrible villain.

It's not just the fact that she died its the circumstances. The mist kidnapped an innocent 14-15 year old girl and made her into a Jinchuuriki just to get back at konoha.

Okay, but look at Kakashi. His dad commited suicide because he kept getting harassed, then he saw his friend "die" right before his eyes, then he kills his teammate on accident, and then in the end finally realizes that Obito is the man who started the war, and yet he still isn't going insane like Obito. Also, I do believe Obito didn't know about why Rin died before he started the whole war, not sure though.

That's because he didn't meet Madara. With the combined effort of Madara's will and his words, he got through to Obito and offered him a free solution.

To Obito Haters: Obito is not that way because of Rin. Once Rin died and from the manipulation that Madara offered, Obito was turned. Madara was basically the only person there for him at the time so he fed into what Madara said.

Second, I agree. That is why I thought Obito would be Tobi.. The only characters that had a chance at being Tobi and were relevant were obito, Shisui [not too sure] and Kagami had he been Obito's father but he's not. Obito had much more evidence to support his identity.. Izuna.. Everyone would be like, who in the world are you?
