Izanami questions

Hey, I'm currently making a vs thread including Uchiha Itachi, and I'm confused about something, which I was hoping someone could clear up.

I hear some users on Itachi debating threads, state that he can just use Izanami on the enemy, while other users say that it wouldn't work, and I simply just don't understand the point behind the technique, and I've got a couple of questions I was hoping someone could answer:

1. How does this technique work ?

2. How does it aid you in a combat ?

3. What is required for the user to be able to cast that technique ? Eye contact, physical touch, etc ?

4. How can you break out of it/counter it ?

5. Why do some people not consider it a combat move ?

6. Are all Uchiha's able to use this technique ?

itachi said that it was a forbidden because its a jutsu with a way to escape
and you escape by acknowledging your results and stop running away

Izanami is a technique where the user sacrifices the vision of of one of his eyes by casting a genjutsu over an opponent... it does not require eye contract or any contact for that matter. It invokes the opponent in a genjutsu even without there knowledge... it takes there state of mind into a endless time loop where things endlessly repeat themselves in the victims head. It is a high class genjutsu but it isn't useful in actual battles. Because it takes your eyesight, it is only useful against people who don't accept themselves or the truth, the victim can break from the loop if he accepts himself. You require a 3 tamoe sharingan, Senju DNA is not required, all Uchiha's are capable of using the technique.

How come it's not useful in battle, seems pretty useful to me ? :s

its not useful if you go blind in one eye and your enemy can free himself from your technique. other than it might buy you some time to flee. might be able to finish them off but your still blind in one eye.
