In all honesty in every instance that Sasuke has tried to lead or make any decisive moves on the battlefield have all been complete fails and in all truth I think this is the best route for his character. Why? Because Sasuke was too cocky. Ever since arriving on the battlefield Sasuke has been sure that he is the strongest and that he is the most informed. This is why he announced that he will become Hokage.
A position given to the strongest ninja in the village and the one who is entrusted with the best interests of the village.
SASUKE WILL NEVER BECOME HOKAGE
The only way Sasuke will ever become Hokage is if Naruto dies and that will not happen.
Naruto is the MC, the golden child, the child of prophecy, and the one who lead the world to true peace.
So what was the point in Sasuke stating that he will become Hokage?
I believe that this was the starting point of Sasuke's TNJ. Kishi made Naruto so much stronger than Sasuke for a reason. This is because Sasuke equates his personal worth to his strength. He has every since he was younger. Sasuke severed all bonds for the sake of obtaining strength. Strength is the most important thing to Sasuke and he doesn't listen to anyone weaker than him.
As I stated before Sasuke sacrificed everything for strength. Even his MS and EMS were only attainable the death of his only brother. Itachi has always been the strongest person in Sasuke's eyes. Sasuke looked up to Itachi, he even admitted that he thought of Itachi as a perfect existence. So there's no wonder why Itachi was able to TNJ Sasuke and throw out of balance his entire way of thinking.
As great as an affect as Itachi had on Sasuke the person who is destined to have the biggest affect on Sasuke's way of thinking is Naruto.
Naruto is the person that Sasuke uses the most to gauge his superiority. This was true in part 1 and is still true now. So now that Naruto has completely surpassed Sasuke this will in turn cause Sasuke to doubt himself.
Now what affect will this have on Sasuke?
Honestly, I don't know. But, my best guess would be this.
Sasuke has always trusted in his own strength in order to accomplish his goals and seldom asked for help from other in achieving his goals, but Sasuke has never played a supporting role in any of the ordeals he has been in. Sasuke places too much value on his own strength and does not know how to play the supporting role. Sasuke needs to acknowledge his own weaknesses and learn that their is no such thing as a person that is perfect nor someone that can accomplish everything on his own.
This may result in Sasuke not obtaining CM or SM, but instead obtaining a technique that will allow Sasuke to collaborate with Naruto in a way that allows the two to form an unbeatable pair. Much like Izanami and Izanagi. I do believe that Naruto and Sasuke will be equals, but not until Kishi is done rebooting Sasuke. Sasuke needs the time of being out shined in order to come to grips with his own weaknesses and learn to analyze the situation in order to see what he can do with his own power. Whether that be in a leading or a supporting role.
