I've seen people think all kekkei genkai are elemental, time to debunk that

Kimimaro's, Jugo's and Sakon's kekkei genkai aren't elemental at all. So, how did this misconception of all kkg being elemental start?

Sharingan and all doujutsu are KKG too.

All elemental combinations are KKG, but not all KKG are elemental combinations.

The confusion probably lies in the definition of Bloodline Expansion. The only known expansion is elemental based (3 elements at once) so some might think Bloodline limit refers to only 2 element KKG's. But yes, non-elemental KKG's exist, but all elemental combinations are also KKG.

Kekkai Genkai are bloodline limits and are considered genetic. Elemental bloodline limits (like Mokuton or Lava Release) are also bloodline limits because the ability to combine those elements together to make a new element is genetic itself. It's like Kakashi's ability to use Doton and Suiton but he doesn't have Yamato's (Hashirama's genetics) to combine the two and use Mokuton.
