Everything's that happening in this war goes back to the past of the Uchiha and Senju. He's just a random caught up in someone else drama. Only Sasuke is relevant to the past of Kaguya/Black Zetsu. It's on a personal level to him. Not only that, Sasuke is actually related to Kaguya.

Even when Madara had the show, he was more interested in Sasuke than Naruto.

Honestly, Sasuke should have been be the leading main when Obito was taken down.
