Hmm well they way i see it the story has been changed. It used to be that Madara was the genius behind everything but Kishi completely turned that around and made it BZ who was responsible for literally EVERY SINGLE THING wrong with the Ninja World.

By that logic the story was retconned every time a new villain made his/her appearance.
No because Kishi changed it with BZ. BZ is responsible for everything if you really go back. No other villian can lay claim to this. So we thought the Uchiha and Senju hated each other because of the curse? Wrong BZ did it. and so on you could prolly even blame the great wars on him.
Yes, 681 was shocking, but the fact that BZ was behind all of the conflict and hatred in the ninja world makes sense. All villains so far have been shown to have started off with good intentions that got twisted somewhere.
The stone tablet never made sense once the Sage told his story. The fact that it seemed to cause problems didn't square with the Sage being an advocate of peace. Either the Sage was a fraud, or someone changed what was written on it.
Madara seemed like the ultimate bad guy, manipulating Obito, planning his own re-birth, using everyone as his pawns. But Hashirama said that Madara used to be a kind man. In combination with the panel of the young Madara with a good guy smile (similar to Naruto, Obito, and Nagato), that was enough foreshadowing to hint that someone else was orchestrating all the hatred.
I don't consider it a re-write or retcon. It WAS unexpected.

Black Zetsu has been there from the beginning and he's really just an extension of Kaguya, so technically, Kaguya instigated everything and she's been there from the start so..
