Yes, this was one of my theories in another forum I go to. The level of knowledge Tobi shows is as if he met Hashirama, Madara, and Mito Uzumaki. This could set Tobi up to be the Uzumaki clan leader. Since Mito is probably one of the higher members, that would probably also make them direct family members. After witnessing how the shield weakened during Mito's labor, he began to make plans to take Kurama for himself. This is why Tobi knew so much, and told Kushina, "Do you have ANY idea how long i've waited for this moment?!".

I am guessing the deal the Senju and Uzumaki clan didn't go very well, and something resulted in the near annihilation of his village. This would explain his hatred for both the Senju and Uchiha. If he turned out to be Tobi, it would not be too bad. This would link Naruto to his enemy like on all of his big fights. A random Uchiha just won't mirror Naruto, nor surprise him when the mask comes off.
