i had the same thought, a nice surprise would be Sasuke using his new rinnegan powers to jump to the other dimension and kick it out of the way, then obito warps to the real world with Sakura and warps Naruto to sasuke and madara, and they keep madara too occupied to use kamui just long enough to give kakashi the rinnegan or something along that line.

Or sakura takes it and heals with her forehead seal. The black rod has only stopped healing a few times like with Minato, but a lot of the times it doesn't stop healing, like with Hiruzen. So maybe she will heal it.
