I think its likely that boruto's tattoos probably has something to do with his eye lacking the veins..
Boruto tattoos are most likely connected to hamura's chakra which probably enhances his byakugan when the tattoos are activated or simply enhances it by default.

We see that the tat is placed on boruto's dominant arm , the same side that his byakugan/tenseigan is located similarly to sasuke when he gained yin seal and rinne. Hamura likely gave boruto his tattoo/chakra and since member of the main branch of the hyuga along with havin parts of naruto's hagoromo chakra , it was able to evolve his eye and chakra into somthing we never seen before.

tawaki probably stole his or used narutos and sasukes dna to gain some haxed alternative variation.

Mitsuki also has no veins, is it possible that he gave one of his eyes to Boruto?

Because the scar seems to imply that he lost his original eye.
Naruto could have remade it or it could be Mitsuki's.

Not tensiegan exactly but it could be some form of next level to the byakugan done in a subtle way by writer similar to naruto after he gained rikudo sm from hagoromo he had no sm patterns on his face , so its likely that boruto has awakened some kind RSM , correlating with his dad , while also having a doujutsu like his master , showin the blend and differences uncle sause said in the chapter.


In regards to wat happend to papa naruto , i think its also a possibility that naruto actually died giving the last of his chakra power to boruto after tawaki drained his bijuu and left him for dead or after he died by some strctly ope'ed and sad way.

I dont think tawaki killed naruto because boruto doesn't show any resentment to hint that tawaki was directly responsible , its similar to wat sasuke said to kakashi about joining the third in the afterlife.

Based on the nature of the convo and situation they were in , boruto did not kno that tawaki was that powerful hinting that tawaki recently developed this power in some kind of dramatic contrast to bolt , likely by stealing somthing from him like dna , oro is maybe connected somehow. Boruto seemed like he had his power for a couple years.

To add even more drama they could make it so hinata also dies and channels the last of her pure hamura chakra to boruto like wat she did to his pops in the last allowing boruto to emotions he feels awakens his byakugan with rsm chakra blooming simulataneosly , almost mirroring wat happend to kushina/minato when they gave ruto chakra.
