Not true. Tobi could have came back and warped Minato away as he tried to seal the nine tails. It's all a plot device win if you ask me. If Tobi had to sacrifice a sharigan to erase Minato's seal and kick his ass worth it if you ask me.

If Minato didn't have more Improtant things to deal with he would of chased tobi down when he warped himself away.

It's Impossible to Escape once your Marked, Tobi was Lucky Minato had to deal with the 9tails.

Now had tobi's goal simply been to kill minato he probably would have done it differently. Tobi only began to target minato because he realized that minato would be able to stop his plan.

So pretty much Minato beat Tobi, there is no question of that. However you make a point that if Tobi's goal was simply to kill minato, he may have used izanagi and been able to do it without losing control of the nine-tails. The only issue is that tobi had more plans for the future and knew that he would need his sharingan so he did not want to lose it for the one small goal of possibly destroying konoha.

I also hate when people overrate characters but minato was amazing and deserves credit. I am not saying that he is the greatest character of all time. But injuring tobi is a great accomplishment. And as for the Konan point. She was planning and preparing for a very long time. It would have been pathetic if she planned and couldn't even hit him. Minato however did all of that without expecting a battle at all. He analyzed tobi's abilities on the spot and was able to counter them. That's why people feel Minato is amazing and overlook Konan. She had tons of planning and setting up her traps.

PNJ seems to be very famous, it could happen from both sides. Kishi is the one who decides those who lives and those who don't.
Even if the fight was in Minato's favor Kishi could just troll the fight making Tobi winner just as he trolled with most of Akatsuki's members.

Minato ain't overrated only bcuz he could hit "unhittable"(ROFL) he is known as the yellow flash, his speed and feasts are the source of him being overrated.

Minato has already Proven he is the Faster of the two, tobi has nothing to Counter FTG.

For one, Naruto, Sasuke, Madara, Hashirama, Kabuto, Itachi, Sage Of Six Paths, Danzo, and just about a lot of other people could hit Tobi.

Two, Izanagi would've wasted his Sharingan, Tobi would be screwed unless he ran away.

Minato is not and would never be stronger than SO6P and no victory of his versus Tobi or Madara if you like would prove otherwise - SO6P is much too boss for everyone in the narutoverse.

Now that being said, SO6P aside, Minato is still pretty epic. Hold on to your flaming jacket - sorry to burst a bubble, but no he is not claimed to be strong because he managed to land a hit on Tobi, he was the Hokage at such a young age for a reason, he was known as Konoha's Yellow Flash with an issued flee-on-sight order from neighbouring countries, having survived and won a gazillion battles, one of which was versus the Raikage. I wouldn't say he's overrated - face it, Minato kicks ass and I can calmly say he is one of the strongest characters in Naruto. Or was, until he sort of died.
