There appears to be a really really reeeeeeeally obvious theme in naruto that many people just don't see so i'm going to bring it to light. My main observation is that some people don't seem to understand why it's possible that the elder son could survive longer than the younger given a particular scenario which is irrelevant right now. This is not about whether or not that is so but rather to emphasize the fact that it's possible.
So read first, think then answer. If you make it past the think part you're likely to agree anyway. Here goes :scorps:
The Younger Son was the one gifted with longevity. Duh! I wonder why everyone always goes back to this. It's not about what one has. It's about ambition. This theme should be obvious and i'm going to solidify it with facts.
Despite the fact that the younger son certainly would have outlived the elder, I doubt he would be the type to seek immortality. Good guys just don't do that because one of the themes in this manga is passing on one's legacy and entrusting the future to the next generation.
This theme is almost unmissable. Just look at it.
I'm sure those aren't the only examples. These guys obviously take after the younger son and it's VERY FAIR, in fact almost expected to assume the younger son had this attitude.
Now look at the bad guys.
An eighty year excercise then afterwards everyone just wakes up like "Where the **** am I?!" El em ef ey yo.
He's planning on being around for a lot longer than that amount of time and if he thinks he can actually be around for that length of time then isn't it possible that he's already scaled such ages barriers already?
The method is irrelevant, that can be argued elsewhere not here. It's the possibility that counts. Look at this scenario. Hashirama outlived and by default had higher longevity than Madara, yet he is dead and Madara is....well...around...right now, even though it's not how he planned it, it's what he intended and for the most part it could have worked under better circumstances. This is a fact not a thought.
It's not about natural longevity or natural power. It's about ambition and seeking those very things. The good guys don't, the bad guys do. It CANNOT possibly get any simpler.
Enjoy.

- In Naruto manga, the good guys live their lives to the fullest extent and do not seek to prolong but instead pass their will on to the next generation.
- Bad guys aren't like this. They think they are the only ones capable of competence and strive to hold onto or even gain power for as long as possible.
Despite the fact that the younger son certainly would have outlived the elder, I doubt he would be the type to seek immortality. Good guys just don't do that because one of the themes in this manga is passing on one's legacy and entrusting the future to the next generation.

- Minato died protecting the village and his family. Left his will and legacy to Naruto.
- Itachi died protecting the village and his brother. Left his will and legacy to his Sasuke.
- Tobirama died protecting his team and subsequently the village. Left his will and legacy to his team and made Sarutobi Hokage.
- Hashirama himself died whether naturally or in battle doesn't matter. He passed down his legacy to his brother and the future generations of the leaf even leaving his necklace to his family.
- Hiruzen died protecting the village. Left his will and legacy to Konoha as a whole.
- Asuma left his will to the next generation and entrusted the protection of his child to Shiakamaru.
- The freaking Sage of Six Paths. Most powerful dude ever allowed himself to leave the world naturally and entrusted his will to BOTH his sons despite choosing the younger as his heir.
I'm sure those aren't the only examples. These guys obviously take after the younger son and it's VERY FAIR, in fact almost expected to assume the younger son had this attitude.
Now look at the bad guys.
- Orochimaru constantly sought and craved power (the Uchiha bloodline and other artifacts) and did his utmost to obtain immortality. Had no intention of dying or entrusting the future to anyone whatsoever.
- Kabuto has followed in his footsteps and sought power that doesn't belong to him. He has no intention of dying either.
- Uchiha Madara acquired the power of Hashirama and took pre-emptive steps to make sure that he would come back at some point. That's not someone who plans on leaving anything to the new generation.
- Tobi is the worst. He plans on acquiring the worst and most massive type of power in order to literally correct and control the entire planet. If you can't already see it let me ask a difficult question. Is anyone stubborn or perhaps naive enough to think that Tobi plans on only controlling the world for the next what, ten years? Twenty years? Fourty years? Eighty years? Give a specific number so I can laugh at you.
