Looking back on it Obito's character is pretty easy to explain. He was a kid that at his lowest point was taught to believe in bad things. (That the world is all evil) Obito took comfort in these words and built his entire life around them. He never matured, he simply believed in this teaching, built his entire life around it and even when he knew he was doing wrong he simply deflected the guilt by blaming it on the "evil" world. He is like a kid who after his mom died got affiliated with a cult.

Realistically, looking at him Naruto is Obito. The only difference is that at Naruto's lowest point he had someone to help him mature and endure the pain, rather than deflect it like Obito.

At first, I thought you were trying to lead me into a joke, but I don't think that had that much of an emotional toll on Obito. He was just happy to be alive and wanted to be a pair with Kakashi again.

Well, Obito wanted to be acknowledged. He had no parents, Kakashi was his rival, And minato praised kakashi more than
Obito.

Rin was the only 1 who Joined his side in some kind of way.
And then you see your team mate killing the only person who believed in you...

Obito was almost similar to naruto from start and Kakashi was first to notice this , in ideology and even down to goggles they use in their childhood.
I think what changed him was not death of Rin but something more sinister, if he would have been in village when rin died, his friends and minato would have encouraged him to become stronger, so he could protect, convert his loss and pain in to strength as it happened with naruto.
But he was with wrong man at that time , the person with so much hate that an angel may also turn devil in his company, MADARA who converted his pain into hate for world

The difference between Naruto and Obito is Naruto had Jiraiya as his master, teaching him to endure all obstacles in his path.
