I mean dude it's not our story. How are we supposed to call something an asspull that we aren't creating? It's an asspull why? Because we're readers waiting for bits and pieces of information to come via chapters from the man who's writing the story and knows all the details we don't? Yet somehow we're the ones with better insight and he is the one pulling something out of nothing? Sorry I don't follow that logic.
Don't get me wrong I get it when something happens that you don't see coming it can make you mad, and I can't speak for everyone but personally I don't call anything in this story an asspull. Yea sometimes I wonder why things weren't revealed sooner, but I also know that in stories some things just get held back for the sake of plot.
Itachi had already used Susanoo despite losing his light. That right there should be enough to tell you that the power of susanoo doesn't just solely come from the eye. Hell even Tobirama explained to us that the very chakra that gives you the sharingan comes from the brain and enters the optic nerves, it doesn't originate within the eye itself. So Madara not needing the eye isn't that surprising.
Minato was able to summon toads, the pupil of Jiraiya, and supposedly the best ninja Jiraiya had pretty much ever come across. It makes less sense to me that he wouldn't at least have attempted to learn Sage Mode. For god's sake is it really that much of a surprise?
The curse mark is basically sage mode. The markings are the result of the release of senjutsu chakra within the mark. Senjutsu chakra. So yea, chakra ended up fusing together with chakra. So yea, where's the asspull?
I think people just need to calm down about all this. If they stop to reflect a bit instead of blaming everything they don't understand on an asspull, it may not be as much of an asspull as they start to piece together little hints here and there they otherwise missed until a chapter comes along that fully explains what they want to know
