Itachi's STD

welcome one and all. thought i'd make a lil thread pertaining to itachi, since i've seen his name pop up today in latest threads so many times lol. we all know he was sick from some unknown illness. in a way, this kinda worked in favor of every other character since he could not last long and preferred to finish things off quickly. he couldn't have possibly been truly bad, because of his stamina. sounds weird right? well no, because of his health he would have died from exhaustion if not for being an edo.
anywho, he was sick and died from it. what im curious about is how he became sick. i haven't read anywhere or seen anyone say of any specific reason or motive. i personally think that it could have been one of the villians in the series, specifically one of the current main villians. why would it have been one of them? im sure they would all have a reason.

Oro- we all know he wanted an uchiha body, and as far skill and power goes, itachi was numero uno before his sickness and sasuke growing up. why didn't oro try to manipulate him and take his body? well, itachi is hella smart, i'm sure he wouldn't fall for that, just as sasuke didn't. that, and oro never had anything to offer itachi.

Danzo- well we all know danzo and itachi's past. we all know that danzo doesn't play disloyalty and went so far as to seal his root members tongues so they couldn't speak on the organizations deeds. maybe danzo knew of what itachi had planned for sasuke, and he knew how the uchiha were (tobirama trained him), he knew of their power since he collected their eyes. maybe he poisoned itachi to keep sasuke from learning the truth and becoming more powerful than he could handle?

tobi/obito- obito had a good enough reason to want itachi to keep quiet. he too wanted sasuke for his plans, and itachi was the only person who could tell him the truth about the uchiha massacre and the kyuubi attack. as much as he wanted itachi to keep quiet, he needed his abilities and he was also aware of how formidable itachi was. why not poison him and wait him out?

what do you guys think about this? lemme hear your theories.

lol, you know when Leonardo Dicaprio says we must go deeper? Think you might have gone a little too deep on this one brah, though I can see some legitimacy to this theory. Most writers, or directors usually don't include things in a movie - no matter how minute they may seem to the reader/watcher - without having some sort of other underlining significance. But this...can't say Kishi went that deep, even though he has the capacity to play mind games with us.
If this does hold up, well I'll probably be looking at Oro' like you suggested, because he's the most likely candidate to want to poison Itachi.

Another thing was that during Hiruzen's recent Itachi flashback it seemed like Itachi was traveling in some remote/ruinous location. With his adventuring in that sense it is possible he picked up a rare disease!

I'd say Orochimaru is unlikely because it seemed Itachi knew how to handle him. Similarly, Obito isn't very likely as our Mask wearing villain seem to be wary or avoid Itachi as much as he could. With his attitude, I doubt he would have acted as cautious or fearful of Itachi were he aware that he had poisoned (and as such was slowly killing) Itachi.

oro's body is weak. (too weak to be a true sage)
kimimaro also was in oro's favor & he caught a disease.
itachi was in oro's favor and he caught a disease.
oro touched itachi and people think that snake accidentally poisoned him(or sumthin)
and kimimaro stayed with oro so they were in close quarters with eachother
(so some think that's how kimi got his disease)

this makes since tho. i personally just cant see him contracting something random or rare enough that no one knows about it. not that he was running around screaming it from the roof tops lol. but the self sacrifice and atonement sound like they are right up his alley.
