The reason why itachi was able to spam amatersu and summon a third form susanoo while putting more power into sasuke is because he has amazing chakra.

Uchiha's have powerful/massive chakra:

The only problem here is that itachi doesn't have the stamina for it (duration of each powerful attack).

If you look at all the powerful attacks that would of ended sasuke (if not stalling) it was short lived.

His illness made it even worse on top of that.....So with people who can give itachi such trouble is-

Madara
Hashirama
3-Other hokages (maybe 3rd)
Obito
Sasuke
Naruto
Oro/kabuto via edo tensei

Edit: I don't remember tsukuyomi, amaterasu, and susanno to be the most chakra taxing techs in the manga. (at least i don't remember where it states that) I doubt its more taxing than other ms techs.

It's more like chakra control imho. Kakashi went from 2 to 6 kamui cuz he got better at it.
sasuke too. Itachi knows his reserves and as such makes his tech's quick but extremely effective.
That's why he's regarded(sadly) as the solo king.
Ama 1shot.
tsukuyomi 1shot.
totsuka 1shot.
They have to be 1shots because he doesn't have the chakra to spam it.
