Itachi lied so that he wouldn't have to kill anyone from Konoha. He could have easily beaten him, but didn't want kisame to know that.

Exactly, he had to make Kisame believe there was a legitimate reason for them to leave behind the Jinchuuriki. Itachi and Kisame > Base J man no problem.....

Go search up the Viz Translation of the Manga. They were referring to Naruto with the Kyuubi, NOT Jiraiya. You SERIOUSLY think a Jiraiya back then who had shown no Sage Mode was gonna get past Tsukuyomi + Ama? LOL.

LOL back then naruto was nothing.. You go back to academy so that iruka could teach you lot of things you dont know
