He isn't a pacifist he was a retard who was selfish and took the role of a spy alone and DID NOTHING to disrupt the akatsuki because he couldn't.

He had the potential to be a strong and amazing character and do what Hisoka did to the Phantom Troupe...Itachi was a wasteman. Couldn't even save his own baby brother by killing Danzo and Obito and how tf is he a Hokage?
