Itachis illness was overusing ms

He used ms in every fight he was in this series excluding the body double( because he couldn't use it) obito said madara got sick from over using ms. Even sasuke was coughing up blood from overuse

Itachi using MS definitely did take a toll on him, the same when it did for Sasuke too.
But Obito also stated that he had a terminal illness, so it wasn't only using MS. If you compare what he had to real life, the only symptom we saw was him coughing up blood-it looked like Tuberculosis or Cardiovascular disease (not aids trolls). But in reality, it was just plot-disease. Kishimoto probably didn't even know what it was, he just wanted to nerf him.

Also, he didn't overuse it. He actually maintained it the longest when you compare him to the other MS users who have both their eyes. And he didn't use it in every fight. He didn't use it against Deidara or Orochimaru.

Itachi overusing it? From what we've seen, Itachi hardly used it, he was in normal-mode most of the time while the other MS-users (Sasuke) always are in Sharengan or MS-mode.

Obito didn't say what the disease was. Although, most of the things he has told Sasuke turned out to be lies or half-truths, so he isn't a credible source.

The coughing up blood is also a side-effect of Susanoo, which also happens to attack the user's body and is stated to eat at user's life. Susanoo literally kills it's user.

Think of it too. You think it's tuberculosis, but what is tuberculosis? A lung disease. What part of Izanagi's body was Susanoo born from? His nose, which you breathe from.

It would had been stupid to nerf Itachi anyway since Itachi was going to throw the fight. You don't have much more of an excuse for losing than trying to lose.
