Isn't the requirement to read the tablet is to have at least a Sharingan eye or Rinnegan? Which in this case its impossible, cause Itachi never give Naruto his Sharingan. Besides, in manga, doesn't Itachi said something like this: "I have given you some of my power, I pray that you won't have to use it". This fact concludes that despite its only "some" of his power, the wish to not use it unless its absolutely necessary gives hint on its strength. Honestly, I have no idea what that gift is, but i came up with some suggestions on what it might be (Although its possible that its neither one of the list). This is what i think it is:
1. The ability to use Fire style (Katon), which probably in later manga, naruto will use it to form some sort of Fuuton : Rasen-Shuriken with some other S-Rank Fire Style combination jutsu though I have no idea what it is. Since the wind part will feed the fire part with enormous attack power, It could be something that's so dangerous Itachi prefer him not to use it.
2. Some sort of jutsu that allow Naruto to tap into Kyuubi's power/chakra in a more advance way, allowing him to draw out more of Kyuubi's power. This too is very dangerous. Since sharingan is not necessarily needed to control a bijuu (First Hokage) and the fact Uchiha Madara controlled Kyuubi during the attack on Konoha 16 years ago, It's possible that Uchiha Itachi has come up with a way to do the same thing (Uchiha Clan).
3. Jutsu that the Sage of the Six Path used to contain Juubi in his body, as a last resort incase its needed...this too can explain his concern about Naruto's using it.
Basically..This list is pure imagination. It can be one of those, which i doubt it somehow. It can be neither also, which is very likely. Either way, thats my opinion on Itachi's gift to Naruto. Peace ^_^
I believe that since Itachi and Naruto were discussing fighting Sauske if Sauske were to attack the leaf village at the time the gift is something that will activate while Naruto is fighting Sasuke this would also make sense when Itachi said I pray you never have to use it because he hopes Naruto is never forced fight Sauske in that way. Itachi hoped Madara would never get to Sauske but this gift to Naruto was a fail safe should the it happen. The gift is probably a tsukuyomi counter that blocks tsukuyomi and shows Sauske the truth of why Itachi killed the clan and the truth about Itachi, or something that will turn Sauske against Madara.

First paragraph: you kinda contradict yourself here.
when Itachi said "I have given you some of my power, I pray that you won't have to use it", that may could still mean reading the tablet. (Power can also mean ability, Duh!, though we don't know the extent of how/what Itachi can transfer.)
The tablet has details on the Rikudo sennin, if Naruto needed to read that then that would mean Madara's "eye of moon" plan had proceeded to that point and that would have been past Itachi's comfort zone. (Itachi wanted to stop Madara getting to his brother and try to protect peace in the world)

1) yeah but that would be just another cheesey power up,
"Yay, Naruto can now burn stuff to a crisp, this somehow outclasses the illusive wind chakra's ability to deal enough microscopic damage to someone's cell's that their flesh would begin to liquify".
2) somewhat valid but nonetheless unlikely.
the amount of Kyubi chakra Naruto accesses without help is on the boundary of not dealing any damage to him, basically, when only his eye's show kyubi chakra, any futher and he would start to form the Fox' cloak with burns his skin off. (though thats merely conjecture)
3) Can't really think of a point that really sticks other than, Naruto's seal which holds half of the kyubi's power is getting weaker, hold the jyubi which is however many times bigger.................you get the idea.
and thats about it.
I pretty much think that its the power to read that stone tablet aswell. (either that or a way to counter Sasuke's Mangekyo DeathHAXgan.)

The kyubi is not a great monster but just a part of a 10 tailed demon so I doubt it can read that stone or do something thrat great 
I think Itachi's power is connected with Kyubi inside Naruto and refers to his fight vs Sasuke, as it was what they were discussing that time.

Itachi knew for sure Madara's Moon Eye plan so, i think that naruto may have some ability that allows him to control the Kyubi if somehow is extracted from naruto's body. This justifies Itachis: ''i hope you'll never need to use it'' or whatever he said

Err....I don't think I contradict myself here. If the gift is the ability to read the stone tablet, which will definitely help Naruto in his way to claim Sasuke back and destroy the Mooneye plan, don't you think Itachi will say something like this : "I have given you some of my power, I pray that you know how to use it/be able to use it". This will shift the gift from strength based to important based, get me so far? Cause in this case Itachi hopes Naruto WILL use it to read the tablet to figure out anything that might help throwing the mooneye operation to the garbage bin. Ability that's essential like that........don't you think its a little off to see how Itachi's wish for Naruto not to use it? Now thats what I call Contradiction. Furthermore, that gift is kinda dumb if only to read a tablet, cause Kakashi has partial sharingan which can read the stone tablet too, though he probably needs to close his normal eye off (Since in the manga, it doesn't say that you have to have both sharingan eye to read it.....I could be wrong though). Personally, I like the idea that the gift is to counter Tsukuyomi.....but, isn't the basic requirement to survive a Genjutsu as powerful as Tsukuyomi is to actually be an Uchiha clan (have sharingan too) I think Itachi stated it in manga and in the original Naruto Episode. I forgot though when and where. I have a feeling that Naruto has a hidden Kekkei Genkai......though what is that or what its capable of is unknown to me ^_^. Anyway, thanks for the comment though. I don't think anybody doubts at this time that naruto has a hidden kekkei genkai but what it is is still way up in the air. I would like to see the gift itachi gave naruto it would really clear up a bunch of stuff.
Couldn't be. It would incredibly lame to read a tablet which we as the audience pretty much know most of the info. Plus Madara said the order of the dojutsus in which more info is revealed so Naruto wouldn't be getting everything. Basically a lot of buildup for naught.

Well Madara never actually trusted Itachi so I don't think he informed Itachi about his plan.
Itachi couldofcourse read the stone tablet ot talk to Nagato..

Hmm....I don't know if this could be the evidence of kekkei genkai....but I know that this is evidence of an Ultimate Jutsu. In Naruto Shippuden Episode 130, when Jiraiya ask the Toad who holds the key to unlock the Kyuubi seal to actually resides inside Naruto's body, which of course the Toad object by stating that "no one's ever put the key next to the safe", didn't Jiraiya reply with something like "This probably what Yondaime wanted me to do, and i know it because i am his teacher" and "Yondaime knows what he is doing........" and something like "He probably would want him (Naruto) to master that *Jutsu*". I don't think this jutsu is Shiki Fuujin (Did I spell it correctly?), and I don't think its any type of sealing jutsu either.....and why Naruto? Why Yondaime chose him as the vessel for the Kyuubi? What Jutsu that Jiraiya's talking about? You don't normally use your son as the vessel for harbinger of death without SOLID REASON, right? (unless you are a lunatic parent) That's what make me think that Naruto has something that no one have, some sort of special ability that only his father had noticed it (Kinda remind me when Goku realize that Gohan can surpass him and achieve SS2).......Isn't that at least, a crude explanation of Kekkei Genkai? Still, in the end, I could be wrong. Peace ^_^

Minato just assumed that the Kyuubi would benefit Naruto into learning w/e jutsu he had planned down the line. Probably some sort of time/space jutsu. Also it was used as a way to make sure the Kyuubi was out of Madara's hand as his sealing technique is different then the others. Nothing really to do with a Kekkei Genkai.

When Yamato stated that there was something special about narutos own chakra and the kyuubi chakra being like poison to naruto. He stated that there was something that allowed him to fight the kyuubi negative effects. Maybe his kekkei genkai is his healing ability, or regeneration.

I think most of you are thinking about Itachi's gift in the wrong way. Why jump to the conclusion that its a way to stop Madara? Itachi's main concern was his little brother Sasuke, not stopping Madara. The only reason he implanted Amaterasu into Sasuke's eye and made it activate at the sight of Madara was not because he wanted to stop Madara's plans, but because he wanted to prevent Sasuke from being corrupted by Madara.
The "Gift" is much more likely a way to stop Sasuke than it is to stop Madara. Hence the "hope you never have to use it" line. If Naruto has to use it then Itachi failed and Sasuke became corrupted. Something Itachi gave his life in order to prevent.
