Itachi's Genjutsu vs. Jiraiya's SM Genjutsu

Jiraiya's Genjutsu so long as Itachi's doesn't get Jiraiya *and* the toads. You figure if Jiraiya becomes trapped in Itachi's Genjutsu he just needs one of the toads to disturb his chakra and release him.

It takes Jiraiya quite a while to summon the toads. Then he has to wait for the toads to get the genjutsu ready. If he was fighting Pain in an open battlefield, it would have been impossible for him to stall for so long.

Jiraya was fighting against pein....so he had to fight essentially against 6 people. The one pein he used his genjutsu on he killed.

Itachi needs the user to make eye contact with some part of Itachi. Jiraya's genjutsu just requires is for you to hear it. You can close your eyes but you can't shut off your hearing. So Jiraya's is stronger based on that.

But if you're asking which could would win in a genjutsu battle against each other, that would be Itachi since the sharingan can see through genjutsu which makes it nearly impossible to put a sharingan user under one. All Itachi would have to do is trap Jiraya, Ma, and Pa, and he wins.

*Edit* Actually I take that back, in a pure genjutsu battle, neither would win. If Jiraya were smart, he would fight using his eye sight and just have Ma and Pa keep their eyes closed so they never get caught in genjutsu and will always be able to break jiraya out of any genjutsu he gets caught in

no itachi's tsukyomi is final same as jiraya's frog song in some sense

jiraya's requires more time cuz he has to enter sage mode and ma and pa have to set up their vocal's

I would personally choose Itachi's.

Mainly because it's quicker and no one but Sasuke would be able to break out of it.

The only problem would be that I would have to make eye contact, but it's not really a problem because in almost every fight the opponent look at each other directly in the eyes.

Also because Jiraiya's takes to much prep time. This is just me though.

the sound genjutsu is more practical as it doesn't require the victim to look into your eyes or focus on some part of your body(ex:finger, hand, etc...)

Both are somewhat insta-win.

Itachi's: More practical use (Less prep time)

However it requires eye contact.

Jiraiya (Or more specifically the toad's): Less Practical (Takes a bit longer)

However it is more effective and far harder to negate/stop.

Both are pretty much instant win as I said, but they're equal because the prep time of Itachi's is negated by the Effectiveness of the Toad's.

Sound beats sight everytime plus it took a rinnegan user to just survive jirayas demonic frog song genjutsu,while it only took a 3 tomoe sharingan user with a curse mark to break tsukiyomi,and itachi and sasuke was wreck just by tayuyas sound based genjutsu(which was no where near the level of jiriyas),and had they not been fighting alongside each other the match would have been over right their. sound beats sight any and everytime.
