To further add on to Truth's point, in part 1 Sasuke and Itachi looked like father and son. I guess, it's to show Itachi's closeness to Sasuke through imagery is well.
That's true too. And, with Fugaku not really being involved in Sasuke's life much at any point- Itachi did double as his father figure too.
I bet even the trolls took time to read this. Itachi is the best written character in Naruto and this thread surely elaborates it.
Thanks for reading.
Indeed itachi is a great character his fanboys are the ones to make him hard to like nice thread btw.
Thank you.
I'd love to add something to this fine piece of work, but there isn't much to say because you covered everything flawlessly! Great thread, I love it (as always), it just goes to show the depth to Itachi's character that often goes forgotten.
You know, I've noticed that your threads seem to have a certain style to them. They're very accessible, well-written and thought out... anyone who decides to make a thread like this can learn a thing or two from you, myself included.
Thank you.
Well, I actually like the layout of your threads more. People can learn something from you, too. U_U
Great thread, very well done. I tried to +rep you but I have to spread it around. The only time I questioned Itachi's actions was when he used tsukiyomi on Sasuke to make him repeatedly see his parent's death. I know he wanted to increase Sasuke's hatred for him in order to make him stronger but that really seemed like unnecessary torture to me. At the time I remember thinking that it was beyond cruel to make someone relive that sense of loss over and over again.
The other thing that surprised me about Itachi was his and Kisame's relationship. Kisame was suspicious of his own people and had no problem killing his own team when he was younger and yet he seemed to trust and admire Itachi. He seemed surprisingly unsuspicious when he and Itachi would go to Konoha to just look around and not carry out their mission to get Naruto for the Akatsuki. Kisame was as strong as a jinchuriki so it could not be fear of Itachi that kept him in line, it had to be respect, admiration or both. Itachi would have never turned Naruto over to the Akatsuki because he was part of Itachi's plan to protect Sasuke and Konoha.
@bold- I can understand why you'd think that, but given that...
a) Itachi was trying to convince him that
after 8 years of loving him- he was evil.
b) He was indeed trying to get him to become stronger. It led to Sasuke awakening his first tomoe.
c) He was attempting to give him a goal so that he'd be motivated to live. Sasuke's motivation to live against Haku, Orochimaru, Gaara etc was to kill Itachi. The elder brother gave him something to strive for. If he hadn't done this- Sasuke would have given up long ago and be dead right now.
It also alleviated the burden in the way that Sasuke could direct all his hatred towards Itachi and no one else. So that, when Itachi's death would come around Sasuke would have a moment of catharsis and be relieved.
Itachi was being cruel to be kind. Things wouldn't be sunshine and rainbows as him being a nukenin. Even after the incident, when the brothers went outside their home Sasuke continued to question Itachi saying that he didn't think he'd do something like this. It took not only the Tsukiyomi, but also a speech from Itachi to convince Sasuke that he was evil. This says alot. It was a cruel act, yes. Unnecessary imo... no. It made sense.
I agree with your second paragraph and noticed that as well.
Also, don't worry about the rep. U_U I'm just glad that you liked the thread.
