Itachi's death was important but..

I seriously think itachi needed more screen space
Maybe I am being biased and can't get enough of him
His death timing was perfect too but there are characters who become too big to be ignored or rather to let go easily

Itachi needed more screen time. I wanted him to be madara uchiha and he fights the kages and overpowers them

He is a very very interesting char who should have been the final savior or villain .

Itachi's death was important because the manga would have been a lot shorter if he was alive. He would have totsuka blitzed Pain before he could destroy Konoha and Obito would have been too afraid to wage war with Itachi around. No war, no villains, Naruto would stagnate.

But his death was vital from this point sasuke was manipulated or else he either would have come to the village or would have lived a life of vagabond
