One can't blame Sasuke for wanting to destroy Konoha. It's really messed up to find out that the one you just killed actually loved you and was protecting you. He needed someone to blame. If not for Itachi Edo, Sasuke would hardly refrain from attacking the vilage. He made Sasuke question things and start to fight for peace in his own way. In the end Naruto could bring him back with less difficulty in a way, compared to if Sasuke still beared all that hate and will to kill everyone from Konoha.
