I think there is a misconception , I dont believe Itachi actually spoke to tobi before the uchiha massacre. I do not think he was mistaken when he said he spoke to the actuall madara, the latest chapter 590 has proven this by saying that only Mdadra could have accomplished what he did

So I think it was Madara actually controlling the Muzikage, not tobi, It would explain why Madara knew Nagato because he was still alive up to the uchiha clan massacre, kishis hint was Madaras trade mark pose

Madara most likely needed to see the tablet again so he can read the rest of it because he had just awaken his Rennigan

I had done calculations before involving kisame, itachi, kakashi and sasuke about their ages and scenes where tobi appeared but I forgot them. But I think it is the same guy we need to remember short haired tobi was when he attacked minato which is before the uchiha massacre then we see a long haired tobi so it is most likely he left his hair to grow.

Shorted haired tobi was scene before the uchiha massacre and he attacked minato. After controlling the Muzikage he wanted to change his identity because he had been found out as a long haired masked man. So I believe he cut his hair and changed his masked, it may sound dumb but it fooled kisame.

Ok, I'm starting to think more and more that Tobi is Izuna Uchiha, how else would he know so much about the Uchiha and senju battle. Also why he was looking for a new sharingan eye. I would like to point out that if Madara took his brother eyes, why didn't Izuna take Madara's old eyes.
