Even if Itatchi pulls off Izanami and it turns out to be completely op it still takes a lot of time to prepare it's unlikely he'll be able to pull it off without support. Itachi is still top 10 material and currently ranks around 6th for me.

What part of the chapter was protecting Sasuke? If Itatchi went full out the fight would be closer but it's not like Kabuto is there to just kill them either. He said before the fight he'll leave Sasuke as he wants him for an experiment and he's trying to reclaim Itachi, notice he's mainly using finishers on Itatchi but ignoring Sasuke.

it is not itachi that is getting weaker but rather kabuto becoming pretty op. Regarding to the fight none of them are fighting to kill which makes it hard to conclude who is stronger between the two sides.

but sasuke showed to be worried if they keep stalling, they might ended up dead which proves that kabuto is no joke easily top 3 atm without so6p.

well I dont think it is that simple or he would just have put itachi DNA on himself instead of using him as an edo right?!
