We had never seen children in the uchiha clan .Kishimoto didn't mention kids with the list of people itachi killed in uchiha clan (lover,friend,parents,clan members)

All Uchiha's at that time were grown Up Expect sasuke.I Know This seem farfetched but Knowing Kishi I think he meant it .

Adding children death scenes would make the uchiha massacre much sad and cruel People will sympathies with sasuke more yet kishimoto did not go that road.

Plus even if he actually killed children .His whole massacre was for stopping bigger massacre (not that i agree with that) .
