I'm not sure about that and being a fanfic writer, I've been known to lead people on and surprise them with my true intentions later.

I never saw Itachi as a villain even in the beginning, just a pawn in the greater scheme of things tbh.

Kishimoto foreshadowed much of Shippuden in part 1, so I doubt the main antagonists/protagonists were afterthoughts. Even Obito was planned early despite Tobi fans protests.

i like melanee..she a all right cutie alright?! fanfic ? me too !
we should get together quicki

itachi was never meant to be a villain if he was alot of people be dead naruto captured sasuke dead etc.

u realize an evil itachi would have been far more deadly then non evil itachi

it's never been stated that Kish I changed his mind about anything. this is the same stupid shit people were saying about Tobi being Obi to.

I am not saying that he didn't change his mind, it's obviously possibly, but it is VERY unlikely, and we have no reason whatsoever to believe that. in fact, he himself has stated that the major plot points have been basically the same since Naruto started. Character designs changed a lot, but I believe the major plot points have been planned well ahead of time. I don't see why you think it's last minute. In my opinion, Kishi is very talented with plot twists, suspense, and misdirection. There are points that he strongly points to one scenario/character, and then pull the surprise. Since we're all talking about it, I'd say it worked.
things in naruto arent always as they seem duck

Itachi is the Snape of Naruto. I think he's great, and I think very few people protected the Leaf Village as much as he did. Dying for your village is one thing, but living a life of crime and pain. . .for someone who loved the village as much as Itachi, that must have been worse than death. Overall, I think both he and his story are very well developed.

I never thought of it that way, but yeah, he really is like Snape.

How can u say that kishi had originally intended itachi to be an antagonist :| kishi ,being as skilled a writer he is, thinks ahead and long term planning is obviously necessary for the story to run smoothly U_U u can't have abrupt changes made in a story...that'll just blow the rhythm away :| kishi probably had it all planed out and indeed wanted to make itachi one of the best characters in NV :scorps:

How would I know you ask? Because I'm a) A skilled writer b) The nephew of an author c) One who was an avid reader, reading Harry Potter in elementary school d) in possession of common sense.

Fact is, people who write stories, ESPECIALLY books, etc. make many changes along the way. Often, even when having done much of the book/series, people will, even if just slightly, change the nature of the character, and we'll go back and edit it. Now, with a manga, you can't do that when you change your mind, because you release it per chapter.

And I'm not saying it was a sudden change, rather something he decided to do between Naruto and Naruto Shippuden. Really, back in Naruto, it was obvious to any besides time-travelers that Itachi was a bad guy.

I agree, Itachi is a pretty darn awesome guy, and I have respect for him. But that's because of how he's portrayed in Naruto Shippuden.
