when itachi vs sasuke was over, zetsu said itachi coughed up blood becoz he 'sustained serious damage before the battle' or 'over-used his sharingan'. he did not say itachi was sick !!

so we can also assume that tobi was lying about itachi's sickness.
however, before sasuke vs itachi, itachi never showed symptoms of disease.
i think itachi fought tobi as itachi realised tobi's intentions.
so tobi fought itachi and somehow quit the battle, then itachi came to fight sasuke.
tobi statement is the only true evidence that itachi was sick, zetsu said something else and coughing blood during sasuke vs itachi can also mean he sustained damage before the battle.

Lol this is so wrong, ok so just cause it's shown that Tobi lies, it means that he lies about everything??? , why would he lie about something like this, and Zetsu said it's not necessarily the Sharingan that's causing Itachi to cough blood or an injury. and if Tobi and Itachi fought then why didn't they finish each other or why wasn't Itachi's clothes scratched or ripped or anything. Itachi was Sick, you're over-thinking things.

I think Sasuke overused sharingan much more than Itachi did and also in shorter period, but this didn't cause him to cough blood like Itachi did, so I believe Itachi was very sick.

He was definitely sick. Hence why he was taking medication to forcefully prolong his life so that he could die in his battle against Sasuke.
