Itachi's sins cannot be forgiven or taken as good with another context.

Despite all the revelations he remains a bad guy, he tortured his little brother and he slaughtered people unrighlty labelled terrorists.

Then he joined a real terrorist group and helped them, he may have been a spy for Jiraya but he was still an accomplice.

No, not really. He was a mass murderer and he could have done sooooooo many other things to stop them but didn't.

He just got the Kotoamatsukami so he could have used that but again, he didn't. Also, try to maybe talk to his dad. Like maybe but nope. He could also have told any other shinobi about what Danzo did and stop him. Just a few suggestions.

Telling people about Danzo would cause a political rift between the Uchihas and the ones in power. That wouldn't have stopped them.
Talking to his dad wouldn't have helped either, their minds were made up.
Kotoamatsukami works on one person not on entire group of people. It's also a bit unethical to brainwash people into not being angry towards their oppressros, if anything he would have needed to use Izanami on all of them.
