But if you think about it, the only way those two could ever fight currently would be if the were both revived by Edo Tensei. If we are talking about the both of them fighting while they were both alive then I would have to change my vote to Shisui. One major thing if not the most important that people are forgetting is that Itachi did not awaken his Mangekyou Sharingan until he witnessed Shisui's death. With that in mind Itachi would not be able to counter KA at all. Even with Izanami by his side such a genjutsu would not work on Shisui since Shisui knew what kind of Shinobi he was.

Kishi just designed Mecha Naruto.
Kishi gave Shisui a whole backstory.

It's canon, and there is no place for it in the manga at all at this point.
