Rinnegan plus ability to use jubi chakra to augment his techs would be enough to give Itachi (and anyone else) an almost impossible match. And on top of that, the kyuubi kind of suggested that the So6P had a jubi chakra mode like Naruto's... which would presumably be even stronger than Naruto's, since Jubi > Kyuubi.
