Ok ItachiLeeKakashi made me think about making a thread like this and i think it could be interesting to know opinion of others about this.

We're talking about a regular Itachi(without his sharingan) fighting in these 3cases.

1st scenario: Itachi fights Kurenai
2nd scenario: Itachi fights Asuma
3rd scenario: Itachi fights Asuma and Kurenai.

So who do you think could win? :)

It'd be tough for Itachi without his Sharingan, but we can't forget that this kid is a genious of battle, I'll give it to Itachi to win the first 2 fights but lose the third.

Well Itachi has already seen Asuma use his chakra blade extensions and Katons > Futons so he automatically has the advantage. Add genjutsu + more intelligence + weapon summoning/usage + hand seal speed and I'm more inclined to vote for him. I think Kishi tried showing that Itachi was out of their league and Kakashi was the only one of the three who could compete with him. You can argue if Itachi's genjutsu skills could out-do Kurenai's w/o the Sharingan though but there's no true way to tell.

Regular Itachi is with his sharingan. Its part of his.
Its like saying Asuma with his chakra blades or kurenai without her genjutsu; its naive to say that.
The only times you can say regular character is when a jinchurikki is involved, and them without use of their bijuu is shown in battle.
Besides, Itachi is superior them both of them, easy top 5 characters

Ok, but don't underestimate Asuma or Kurenai. Asuma managed to injure Kisame in taijutsu, who is not that bad with one move. I think in taijutsu, it could be dangerous for Itachi, and now that he doesn't have sharingan he can't predict movements and have the upper hand. So i actually see him losing against Asuma.
Kurenai is strong in genjutsus, and it's the sharingan who helped Itachi to counter it last time. Without Sharingan, i don't know what Itachi will do.

Itachis genjutsu won't work. It's so weak compared to Kurenais. It's as if you say that Kakashi genjutsus(that he used against Sakura) could work against Kurenai or Itachi or someone else. There are levels of genjutsu. It only worked against Naruto because he was not competent at all.

Not at all. I only think that Itachi is so popular as a character that even if his opponent was SO6P people will see him winning.

I also like Itachi. He is even the 3rd character that i like most in this mangas, but i don't like when some people don't know limits. Saying that Itachi doesn't need his sharingan to beat Asuma and Kurenai is really underestimating these 2jounins. Asuma managed to injure Kisame in taijutsu(with Samehada), he fought pretty even with Hidan(an Akamen). Itachi is strong but he based all his power on the sharingan. It's as if you say that he could beat Kisame or Hidan without sharingan.

if he has his sharingan while fighting both kurenai and asuma then he can win with mid difficulty but if he doesn't have his sharingan then he will lose while putting up a very good fight. the sharingan will make that much of a difference

didn't read, Itachi wins even w/o sharingan. You guys act like that's the only reason why Itachi is amazing.

I'm not sure whether he would defeat both but in 1vs.1 he should win. He's still faster, smarter, makes better use of weapons and has a very good Tai- and Ninjutsu.

Itachi wins each scenario.

Itachi shouldn't be overrated, that's right, but on the other hand he shouldn't be reduced to only his Sharingan. I remember that it was said in the old episodes that Kurenai just became Jonin - at that point she was 28 years old. Itachi became Anbu leader at the age of 13. His intelligence, his outstanding speed at moving, forming seals and using Ninjutsu (not even Kakashi's Sharingan was able to follow him), his clever usage of crows and Bunshin - all those skills have nothing to do with his Sharingan. Despite his age, his Taijutsu matches that of Asuma, who's specialized in close range fighting. His speed and intelligence exceeds theirs. He's a genius, gifted with talent in each category, while Asuma and Kurenai aren't.

Kurenai's Genjutsu doesn't match the Sharingan's hypnotic Dojutsu, by the way. Biting one's lip is already enough to escape her illusion(s). Itachi's talent with Genjutsu doesn't just resolve from his Sharingan - as I said he's a genius. Neither Kakashi nor Sasuke are even close to match his, despite having the Sharingan.
