Itachi vs Jiriaya. [Discussion]

My buddy and I were wondering who would win the fight. I believe that Itachi would win but my buddy disagrees.

His arguments for Jiriaya:
- When Kisame and Itachi came to invade the leaf, Itachi said "even together, we wouldn't able to defeat Jiraiya"
- Pain himself (regardless of Jiraiya not knowing his secrete) said that if he knew his secrete, pain would have lost.
- Jiriaya defeated 3 of the pains
- lot of chakra
- sage mode
- Itachi's Genjutsu won't work due to ma and pa.
- Itachi has little stamina

My reasons for Itachi wining.

Itachi wins but it would be an awesome fight, and jiraiya does stand a chance if he has ma and pa.

While I agree that Itachi would win, wouldn't an SM Jiraiya sense that Itachi is building chakra in his eye to use Amaterasu? If so, he can always start moving before it's cast the way Sasuke did against Itachi. With Ma and Pa on him, while he's running, they could attack Itachi.

Not exactly. He will sense it, yes, but he won't be able to move in time and even if he does, nothing stops Itachi from moving his eye or should I say Amaterasu as well.​

Jiraiya could win if he prepared and entered SM or just by dragging out the fight because of Itachi's low stamina, don't be underrating him. Itachi did say in part 1 that he couldn't beat J-Man and that's why he fled. I have to say 6/10 Jiraiya wins.

Only sannin who managed to achieve SM even. Orochimaru failed in it. Jiraya by aquiring SM entered a different tier than the rest of his sannin partners

Itachi would lose this fight and here's why:

1. Jman could give himself the advantage by forcing the fight inside of the giant rock frogs moth. Itachi would have to stay on the move, not giving him the opportunity to cast amateratsu on jman, only using it to escape. We all know using ms tech severely weakens itachi.

2. Sage mode+frog song- I know frog song takes prep time. Jman could do the same thing he did against pein, which was reverse summoning himself into the mouth of a frog completely disappearing from sight and killing frog songs prep time. Itachi has no escape from a sound based genjutsu of this level.

3. This fight will come down to sage mode vs susanoo. Is give jman the advantage because while he's not raikage fast, pein did acknowledge he was alot faster in sage mode. Not having ems and having low stamina basically makes itachi crawl while using susanoo. He never touch jman with it.

That's my take.

Who would win and why?

The first part, with Itachi being a double agent and having a secret agenda to protect konoha his telling Kisame that they wouldn't stand a chance could be seen as a way to dissuade Kisame from sticking around to fight longer then needed.

It's true Pain said that, but using that as proof for him defeating Itachi is ABC logic and not a real point since the six paths and Itachi's fighting styles differ a lot.

Jiraiya also takes a long time to summon Ma and Pa (at least in the Pain fight) which would require him to either summon them ahead of time, so rules of the fight determine if this is in his favor or not, if they have prep time he'd probably show up in SM, if not then his giant toad summons wouldn't keep a fast and powerful ninja like Itachi from attacking him and forcing him to use his hands and delaying the summon and thus SM.

Without SM Genjutsu will affect him, Jiraiya knows how to fight Uchiha but Itachi can cast gen with more than just his eyes so most likely Jiraiya will be caught in an illusion at some point, giving Itachi a chance to get in close or use a partial susanoo and cut him down quickly. Amaterasu, although a strong move would be a closer to last resort since it drains and hurts Itachi so bad as backlash.

Jiraiya wouldn't get murdered, but I def give the edge to Itachi mostly due to the big delay on summoning Ma and Pa and actually getting into SM. SM Jiraiya would be a lot harder and require more MS jutsu to deal with but I could still see Itachi winning just at High diff.

Jiraiya has no counters for tsukuyomi unless he has ma and pa but he still will feel the effects of tsukuyomi regardless. Ni counters for amaterasu.

Itachi could've killed Jiraiya with Amateratsu when they met. Jiraiya didn't know about Amateratsu and he himself thought his Toad Stomach jutsu was indestructible until Itachi used Amateratsu to burst it open . Thus saving Kisame, Naruto, Sasuke, and Jiraiya's lives all at once. Lol


Tsukuyomi would be cast before Ma & Pa ever knew what was going on or even arrive.
Amateratsu would set Jiraiya's hair on fire lololololololol
Totsuka would scare the life out of any Toad summon Lol if they knew what it could do.
Yata Mirror would repel any element Jiraiya & his Toads threw at Itachi.
Jiraiya would be cut open by any of Itachi's kunai
Itachi is smarter and he could nail Ma & Pa with his shuriken/Kunai
Jiraiya didn't notice Pein's being revived over and over without Ma & Pa telling him.
Sound genjutsu doesn't affect Itachi as well as it did Pein or Sasuke.
Under blindness and sound restriction genjutsu , Itachi was still able to use Susano'o & read intentions quickly & carefully.

Itachi wins . :itachi: Although Jiraiya summoning multiple giant Toads at once could help himself win... maybe. ^_^
