I barely understood that. Itachi came to Konoha for one reason. "I am still alive, so don't you dare hurt Sasuke." Like ixc said, he simply used the Kyuubi as an excuse. And Itachi fighting Jiraiya has nothing to do with his sealing of the bijuu. Blame the elders as they were the ones that put him in Akatsuki in the first place. Besides, with or without Itachi, they still could seal the Bijuu.

Just deal with the fact that Jiraiya is no match for Itachi alright? A mere low ranked Genjutsu from Itachi would be enough to fodder Jiraiya since he has no counters to Itachi's Genjutsu.

We can try to analyze Itachis thoughts at that moment, or we can ask ourselves how Jiraiya is going to fight Itachis Mangekyo Sharingan. It's very laughable to say that one who knows the Uchihas power will just close his eyes and fight him, avoid Amaterasu as his speed is supposedly fast enough to escape the Sharingans sight and overwhelm Susanoo. This is nonsense. Itachis powers are clearly superior to Jiraiyas.

And btw what's this for a scenario, where Itachi is going to use Amaterasu on Jiraiya, in order to delete it after, in the situation they were? Itachi just came to Konoha to watch over Sasuke, he didn't want to fight Kakashi, Kurenai and Asuma but had to do. Orochimaru is far more intelligent than Jiraiya and knows about the powers of the Sharingan but yet failed twice. The logic of Itachi haters are weird.

Itachi was ill with low stamina reserves as a result of his illness, yet fodderized Elite Shinobi in mere seconds, not to mention that he has never shown his real power because he was one of the good guys and never had the intention to kill anyone.
