Itachi vs Jiraiya?

I understand this thread has been recycled time and time again, but there seems to be some heavy duty fanboys that support both sides, and seem to have a hard time elaborating on an actual reason.
From what I understand, Itachi and Jiraiya are both extremely powerful. That being said, I find it extremely odd that Itachi admitted that Jiraiya could probably kill Itachi and Kisame if they tried even together. I may/may not remember correctly, but I also thought that Jiraiya had a sealing technique for amaterasu?
Both Itachi and Jiraiya are remarkably strong shinobi with a wide arsenal of techniques. . . and I want to truly get to the core of who may/may not be stronger in what scenarios.

What do you guys think and why do you think Itachi stated that Jiraiya could probably kill kisame and himself?

The whole argument for Itachi fanboys is that he didn't want to hurt Jiraiya and the Leaf.

The whole argument for Jiraiya fanboys is that well.. Itachi said he couldn't beat Jiraiya.

my whole argument is that he was willing to savagely and brutally mindrape and torture kakashi for no reason at all. so he should want to do the same to jiraiya because hey, it avoids killing him right? might put him in a coma and traumatise him for life but it AVOIDS KILLING RIGHT?
Itachi said the best he can do is a stalemate without realy knowing anything about jiraiyas various hax jutsus that we know already counter everything itachi has.
first: genjutsu. jiraiya's well aware itachi uses genjutsu so all he needs to do is close his eyes and use his detection barrier since we know for a fact most of itachis strongest genjutsus are close range. if it goes to MS vs SM then the same thing happens. jiraiya fights using his SM sensing and perception
second: amaterasu. jiraiya can seal it, or with SM, avoid it. or simply reverse summon himself the moment he sees a bit of flames appearing on him and seal it inside his toad.
third: swamp of the underworld. sinks susano for sure. no way to defend against it since jiraiya could pretty much cover the whole battlefield with it if he wanted.
fourth: toad confrontation chant. as long as jiraiya stalls with boss toads and swamps, he should have enough time to prep the genjutsu. fukasaku and shima are already very strong on their own with frog song and wind release dust storm.

Understood, but it would help to input your opinion as well. Also, a question I would raise is, even if Itachi didn't want to hurt the leaf, it's not like him to say something like that. If he wanted to leave he could of just as easily made up an excuse.
