The sharingans on his arm aren't connected to his brain, at least not directly. That's where the genjutsu truly happens, the eyes are just a passage to it. The Sharingan on his arms literally serve no purpose other than Izanagi,

Because it's not connected to an optic nerve? But if you take someone's eye out and replace it with your eye it automatically sticks right back to the optic nerve. But that logic is flawed because clearly we see the Optic nerve connect to the eye.
