There isnt much info on dan's ability to state whether he can defeat any powerful opponent. Going by this technique alone he stands at the very top and i highly doubt that. What i will say though is that his technique has similarities with ino's Shintenshin no Jutsu or shikamaru's Kagemane no Jutsu. With reasonable force you can overcome these forms of possession techniques
