Okay I can see your point... sort of... but Itachi had no other options. He killed his clan to save not only the lives of everyone in the Hidden Leaf but Sasuke as well. He also did this to save the clans name. In reality Itachi was working to try and have the best outcome for everyone. You mentioned that he killed his parents after they said they were proud of him? Yea and he fought through tears of utter sadness to do it. If you really want someone to blame, blame Danzou. He forced all of this. The third Hokage wanted to come to a diplomatic conclusion but wasnt given the time needed. One more point also... he decided to take this burden on as his own... all of it. I can only imagine it wouldnt be an easy thing to do...

that was the most ungreatful statement ive ever heard on this site. You dare curse Itachi? Not only has should konoha erect a monument to this man but he has done more than ANY of the kages to protect konoha.

The leaf elders used Itachi as their tool of war to snuff out an uprising that could possibly destroy konoha. Itachi chose the leaf over his own clan with absolute obedience. He obeyed the leaf by killing his own clan. If itachi had let them live they would attack and possibly destroy konoha and there'd probably be a war that would end up in konoha fading into non existence. If itachi wouldnt have met tobi and made him swear not to touch the village then tobi would have invaded and possibly destroyed the village. If Itachi didnt come back to the village after the massacre then danzo would have most likely killed sasuke on the spot. Not only this but by abandoning his name and looking like a villain he joined the akatsuki and made sure the leaf village was protected. He was the "bad guy" the person that everyone wanted to kill but he was the one that saved the village they know and love many times. He wiped Orochimarus evil from the face of the earth. Then Itachi goes to the grave with shisuis eye put in naruto with the code "Protect Konoha" He went to his death with Konoha in mind. Then he comes back from the grave with only protecting Konoha in his mind. By releasing edo tensei he basically saved the 5 kages and pretty much everyone else. If itachi had stayed under edo tensei with nagato then make no doubt about it naruto and bee would have definetly been captured but no he saved them by coming up with a strategy while naruto and bee shit their pants. Konoha should erect a monument to Itachi for all hes done in life and in death

He did. It's closed now. I think only 1 person agreed with him that Itachi could win.

And I read all these posts, and would like to point out some things.

1. Hiruzen couldn't help Minato because there was a barrier put up. Kind of like how Orochimaru put up a barrier so no one could help Hiruzen, except Minato/Kushina barrier didn't kill ninja who tried to enter.

2. Do you know that the clan would have died anyway if Itachi didn't do it? You are underestimating all of the clans in the leaf village.

3. Danzo basically used Itachi's weakness against him. Itachi's weakness was Sasuke, his little brother that he loved ever since Sasuke was born. It was either allow him to live, or have him die at such a young age when he knew nothing.

4. If the Uchiha clan would have attacked, not only would there be a lot of tragedies (it would be a civil war. Innocent bystanders would get killed, and they would probably have to try to evacuate them when the Uchiha attack, so that would probably be more tragedies right there), other villages would have taken the opportunity to attack Konoha. That would cause even MORE tragedies.

Edit: Haven't you ever thought about the Shinobi World? They aren't supposed to have feelings like that, right? They should do anything for the sake of the mission, but of course, that changed over the years. So there are ninjas who would put their country before their family.

And Itachi didn't put the country over his family! He was thinking about Sasuke, who is his family.

While this thread is way off so is this post. Don't criticize minato for the things he did. It's just as dumb as criticizing itachi they both made MAJOR sacrifices for their village/country leave it at that. Everything is not a competition you think people who go to war say to other veterans "what you only lost your leg in the war i lost my arm and both my legs and am paralyzed from the neck down now". No i don't think so. (though i guess they could be saying that i don't really know lmao)

Doing so the elders would make him be a criminal because many would die since of this. Itachi had to pick between everybody in the village dead or just his clan, to save the village and live as a rogue. By The Way his parents agreed.

yes family is the most important thing but when the family is trying to start a war even they know they will lose and let even the little son(Sasuke)get killed then you should seriously think that they have a problem you can't have blind trust when you know what they are gonna do.Itachi acted like a protector here because he loved his brother more than anything and also he thought as every people from Konoha is equal.He just protected his "relatives"

as far as i can remember,the senju's were the ones who founded the leaf village,and established it into prominence.they have only done good things.:shrug:

by corrupt,if you are referring to the village elders,then none of them belong to senju.hiruzen does not,danzo does not,the old elders certainly doesen't belong in the senju.xd
