He could of shinra'd it off or absorbed it from the get go, and maybe not a Chibaku Tensei but a Shinra Tensei because Nagato is able to sense when he is about to use it.

Lets not forget when almight push is used that there's a 5 sec Gap after itachi would find a way to get'em ,i thought about that to but i don't think he's able to absorb that attack if he could of i honestly think he would of instead of using almight push

Amaterasu is not an instant kill, ask kb and that samurai who sasuke burnt, it didn't even go through his armor, anywho, Tobi and Nagato both outdo him in terms of power

Nobody would of accepted him as leader if they didn't think he was the strongest. You can't tell me you don't think someone like Orochimaru or Kakuzu wouldn't have hijacked Akatsuki for themselves if they thought they could of beaten him.

I think he's better than Nagato. Yeah, he had a lot of help when he sealed him, but look at how effortless that was for him. He even quickly and effectively analyzed and stopped his most powerful technique. And we already saw earlier that Pain is susceptible to genjutsu.

I think it would be a very close (epic) fight.

The battle was won as soon as he hit him with Amaterasu that was a sneak attack it wasn't fair but that proves nagato has no chance against it ,the only reason he even got back up was because he was a Edo Tensei it even showed his body regenerated you'd think nagato would catch itachi faster with chibaku tensei then itachi can catch him with Amaterasu???

thank you for proving my point, it's only different because it doesn't favour you. nagato was an edo and didn't want to fight either.

in a true fair fight, itachi has only been shown fighting orochimaru and defeating him with genjutsu. in other battles, died vs sasuke. ran away from jiraiya. defeated nagato with naruto and bee's help to destory chibaku tensei. so yeah, he's undefeated. yay.

Tobi is the strongest one, obviously. Itachi comes after him, along with Nagato.
Orochimaru is/was the third strongest.
