Well itachi did save bee and naruto. Two very capable jinchuurikis. One that defeated Nagato previously and the other had defeated Itachis younger brother. Soooo go figure

1. It was 3 vs 1 not 1 vs 1. Bee and Naruto were some kind of distraction so Itachi could hit his blind spots.

2. It isn't very difficult to beat a handicapet ninja after all xD I mean Nagato couldn't even move and stand properly with his burnt legs.

Last time I check if Killer Bee and Naruto didn't help Itachi destroy the black orb of the planetary devestation they all be screwed. So thanks to their actions they helped Itachi seal Nagato. Which was a 3v1.
