You just nailed this thread. I also think it is a mistranslation, as I remember telling "you won't be needing Shisui's eye to fight Sasuke" in a different translation.

Well said.... Itachi's opinion doesnt mean anything, after all, he failed badly.

Besides "stopping" Sasuke doesn't necessarily mean beating Sasuke, as you can still stop someone's motives by battling it to a draw.

Itachi only said "you wont be needing Shisui's eye to match Sasuke", it doesnt have any mention of him beating him in battle, nor does he imply he is stronger than him
