- A battle of attrition will result in Itachi's loss. He cannot last the distance since the Mangekyou Sharingan takes a considerable toll on his body. This, combined with his degenerative disease will seriously lower his chances of victory. Sasuke, on the other hand, suffers from no such problems, since the Eternal Mangekyou Sharingan reduces the amount of chakra taxed when certain MS jutsus are used - thereby reducing the strain on one's body.
- He has one way of winning (Izanami) and that's not even possible since it requires shared physical sensation (and this can't happen when Sasuke spams his Susanoo). Itachi cannot even get inside of Sasuke's, and the moment Itachi is unable to keep up Susanoo, he gets amaterasu'd. Sasuke is Itachi's second worst matchup after Madara.
- I don't know if people actually read the bloody manga, but Naruto and Sasuke are moving in such a way that they are supposed to surpass their predacessors. That's one of the themes of Kishimoto's manga - Naruto was written to surpass his father, Minato, and he has. Sasuke was written to surpass his older brother, Itachi, and
he did, the moment he
gained his eyes, and thus, the Eternal Mangekyou Sharingan. These two symbollically represent the Younger son and the Elder son of Rikudo Sennin. They
will now go on to surpass the previous incarnations of those two people - Shodai and EMS Madara. If you can't see these obvious comparisons which are being drawn then you need to pull your head out of your arse and read the bloody manga.
