Itachi really thought Tobi was Madara?

I mean come to think of it. Such powerful eyes of Itachi which can penetrate into any psych and do many incredible mental things. Could not such great eye really penetrate a simple physical mask and recognize that he's not Madara? Of course, he's not pretending because when Naruto told him that Madara has told everything about the clan, (talking to himself in his mind) he said "damn Madara..."

As stated, sharingan isn't byakugan. Its powers aren't seeing through stuff, they are others (reading and copying enemies,tsukuyomi, amaterasu etc). Still no idea why didnt he tsukuyomi obito.
