Itachi Or Shikamaru?

To be honest if Shikamaru weren't so lazy I would put his genius above Itachi's. For now, I just can't, Itachi is more genius in my book.

Are you using "genius" in the context of intelligence or skill?

If Shikamaru weren't so lazy he'd be more skillful, but he'd still be just as intelligent.

I understand that but Itachi started a plan at the age of around 11 and followed through with it until his death, this is true genius. Shikamaru would've said to himself, "What a drag" and died along with the rest of the Uchiha. While few are naturally as brainy as Shikamaru, Itachi, included, I just believe that Itachi is the more genius of the two. I don't think anyone can deny that Shikamaru is smarter than Itachi in pure intellect but that's not all there is to being a genius.

Shikamaru. I mean just compare what each of them does with the resources they have. Imagine Shikamaru with Itachi's resources (MS Sharingan, Susano'o, etc...). I think he'd be unstoppable.
