Itachi always wanted naruto to grow up and get stronger. Think of it in the case of when naruto was going to rescue gaara when naruto gave him the final jutsu he smiled but i don't think it was about slowing them down and if he wanted to catch naruto he would have when himself and naruto were alone in the forest. But u guys should think about it and give me a yes or a no but pls explain if a no

I believe that was obvious. Tobi even told Sasuke, twice, that Itachi pretended to attack Konoha for Akatsuki's purposes.
Shouten Itachi was never going to be able to catch Itachi as he was clearly unable to. In the forest, Itachi most probably could have gotten Naruto. However as you said, he didn't want to.
He even made an excuse to delay Naruto's capture after Kisame caught Roushi - saying Naruto has to be caught last. In addition note his reluctance to tell Sasori and Deidara about Naruto; he didn't want to tell two members who would actually try to catch Naruto.

A simple way to put it is: Itachi's actions work against the notion that he ever wanted to capture Naruto.
