itachi meant to surpassed Madara / Minato surpass hashirama?

there are people in the manga, where the main character does what others had a chance to, but couldn't, for whatever reasons.

i think itachi was meant to surpass madara like how minato was meant to surpass hashirama. at least by chance, i think.

character whose potential was as great as the main, but chose not to, and perhaps wasn't lucky enough to...that's how i see minato and itachi, against sasuke and naruto.

which is why i also think kishi describes the two role models almost flawless in that they weren't beaten by any other but themselves.

1)I think what the OP is trying to say is that Itachi and Minato are the ones who had the 'Natural' potential to surpass those greats, as in, they could have done it with their own intellect, training, and jutsu research, study and mastery.





2) Sasuke and Naruto, if one is objective, should be able to easily tell that there is absolutely NO way they would have even gotten close without help. They've practically been spoon fed most of their power-ups. Juugo fusing his dna with Sasuke to give him Sage Susano'o, SOP handing out power-ups like free candy, Kabuto and Obito handing out Hashirama dna and Bijuu to save their lives and give em power-ups too, Itachi letting himself die at Sasuke's hands and telling him about EMS so he can take his eyes, also staging his death specifically for the purpose of awakening MS. There are alot more BS power-ups I could mention, but the bottom line here is, Naruto and Sasuke can NEVER take full credit for the power they have, they are only responsible for half of what they have, Minato and Itachi were FAR more talented.

I agree with OP as Kishi made sure not to stain them and Yes they had all the talent to surpass madara and Hashi but their roles were to setup the emotion and motivation aka resolve of the 2 who meant the most to them. That is why Kishi did not stain them and made us love them for what they've done and not could've done.

This is an interesting thread with a lot of well constructed arguments, and it's definitely a subject I think about often. Obviously, the answer to this question is highly subjective, and I don't believe there is a single right answer. I like reading everyone's opinion on the matter, though, and I hope this discussion goes on.
